Start Feeling Better
Your life has been significantly altered. It’s common to feel confused about what’s happening, who to trust, and how to react.
In considering settlement, you may make the biggest financial decision of your life. This is a high-pressure situation and even calm people can panic. This is a lot to confront at once.
But, this is also a process. You likely have feelings stemming from the difficult situation and also from the trauma you’ve suffered. We often don’t realize how much these feelings affect us and how much better we’ll feel by addressing them.
The first step is the hardest, and asking questions is a great first step.
Here are some questions you should be asking:
Why do I feel so upset?
How do I cope with my anxiety?
Am I depressed, and when will it stop?
How do I feel about my future?
What do I do with my fear?
Will I feel “normal” again?
How will I take care of my family?
Can I trust friends who ask for money?
How do I act when lawyers question me?
What do I do before I know what’s next?
What has helped me in the past?
